Our cookie policy and how we use them

Last updated: March 6, 2026

1. What Is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. It allows the site to remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language, your login credentials, or other settings, in order to make your next visit easier and the service more useful.

Cookies have varying lifespans: some expire at the end of your browsing session (session cookies), while others are retained for a set period of time (persistent cookies).

2. Why Do We Use Cookies?

On Aldo, we use cookies to:

  • Ensure the service works properly: authentication, security, remembering your preferences
  • Improve performance: analyze service usage to fix bugs and optimize the user experience
  • Secure the service: prevent fraud, protect against attacks, limit abuse

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies for marketing purposes.

3. Types of Cookies Used

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the service to function. Without them, you would not be able to use Aldo securely. They do not require your prior consent in accordance with Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertes).

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by our technical partners to provide the service:

  • Supabase: authentication, session storage
  • Vercel: hosting, performance measurement
  • Upstash: usage rate limit management

These partners are bound by strict contractual data protection obligations and may only use your information for purposes determined by Aldo.

  • Profiling cookies: no tracking of your behavior for commercial purposes

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

6.1 Browser settings

You can configure your browser to accept or reject cookies, or to be notified before accepting a cookie. Each browser offers different settings:

6.2 Consequences of refusing cookies

Warning: If you refuse strictly necessary cookies (particularly authentication cookies), you will not be able to use the Aldo service as these cookies are essential for logging in and securing your account.

Refusing performance cookies (Vercel Speed Insights) does not affect your use of the service, but it prevents us from detecting and fixing performance issues.

6.3 Deleting cookies

You can delete cookies already stored on your device at any time through your browser settings. Please note that this will log you out of the service and reset your preferences.

7. Similar Technologies

7.1 Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage (Local Storage) to:

  • Temporarily save your interface preferences
  • Improve performance by caching certain data
  • Maintain application state between sessions

Local Storage works similarly to cookies but does not automatically transmit data to the server. You can clear it through your browser settings.

7.2 Session Storage

Session Storage is used to store temporary data during your browsing session. This data is automatically deleted when you close your browser.

8. Updates to the Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the service, regulations, or our cookie practices.

Any substantial changes will be notified to you upon your next login to the service. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.

9. Your Rights

In accordance with the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertes), you have rights over your personal data collected through cookies. To learn more, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
